While business is up 300 percent from when snelson first took over 15 years ago, he acknowledges that it nosedived during the recession of 2007 and 2008.
The company had lucrative contracts with homebuilders, but those dried up, causing new construction sales to drop from more than half their business to about 25 percent.
But snelson is adamant that the company is healthy.
This decision is more about what he thinks is right than making huge profits.

Snelson is confident he can give a boost to american manufacturers while competing with big box stores and other flooring companies.
But so far they have been able to find american producers for nearly all of the products they need, with the exception of bamboo flooring, some ceramics and a few of the more exotic woven products they used to sell.
Our product offering is actually better now than it was.
